Traffic accidents can be caused by any number of factors, including adverse weather, equipment going wrong and of course, the actions of the driver. Consequences can depend on a lot of things too, such as speed, impact and number of vehicles involved.
Distracted driving (any driving that involves the driver's attention being elsewhere) causes a lot of accidents on the road every year. This can be anything from texting or phoning while driving, turning the radio on or off, putting on makeup or doing their hair, and even smoking. Drivers under the age of twenty are most likely to have fatal accidents caused by distracted driving, according to study by National Highway Transportation Safety, and almost all of the accidents a few years ago were caused by this.

Drivers under the influence of alcohol cause a great deal of accidents due to their reaction time being greatly slowed and certain drugs and medications can have this effect. If in doubt, get a cab! Driver fatigue is another high factor in the cause of accidents, typically happening between eleven pm and eight am when most of us are used to being asleep. Driving when you're tired is dangerous to you and those around you as tiredness can cause a driver to doze at the wheel and drift over a few lanes without even realising.
Not every accident is down to people’s bad habits, as bad weather is a big factor at times too. Nobody likes driving in the rain and heavy rainfall, snow or hail can decrease visibility and even cause you to misjudge the distance of the car in front. Driving fast through thick fog is also dangerous as you may not be able to stop in time if another car or an obstacle suddenly rears at you through the murk.
Having a good driving instructor can help avoid some of these conditions.  Even the best driver can still find themself in an accident, and if they wish to talk to a professional solicitor about it to make road accident claims then visit www.irwinmitchell.com
